I have seen a few PVC projects out there and figured I'd design my own. I came up with the following and have 2 built and ready to start testing.
Parts and tools:
1/4" drill bit and drill of choice
1 1/2" X 2' sched 40 $3.52
1-1/2 in. PVC DWV MIPT Cleanout Plug $.92
1-1/2 in. PVC Sch. 40 Socket Cap $.98
1-1/2 in. PVC Sch. 40 Female S x FPT Adapter $1.32
1/4 in. x 36 in. Zinc-Plated Fine Threaded Rod $2.27
3/4 in. Clear Vinyl Non-Adhesive Discs for Glass Surfaces (10 per Pack) $2.48
1/4 Nylon Lock nut out of my garage
4 oz. PVC/CPVC Cement and Primer - Handy Pack $7.20
1/4 in. x 2 in. Zinc-Plated Steel Eye Bolts with Nut (2-Pack)
Step 1 Drilling (Socket cap and cleanout plug)
Center and drill 1/4 hole in Socket Cap and Clean-out plug
Step 2 Create Vinyl washers (Vinyl Non-Adhesive Discs)
I used a hole punch to make vinyl disks into washers, If you have rubber washers that would work also.
Step 3 (eye bolt, clean-out plug)
thread and tighten eye-bolt through the hole drilled in the clean-out plug
Step 4 licking stick (threaded rod and nylon lock nut vinyl washer)
Thread nylon nut about 4 turns to lock onto one end of threaded rod. Place vinyl washer on rod
Step 5 Tank Assembly
Using primer and cement seal Cap on one end and female ftp adapter on the other. Follow directions on primer and adhesive.
Step 6 Final assembly
Place threaded rod, nut up, into the tank and let fall through 1/4" hole in the bottom cap. The vinyl washer will create a seal between the nut and the pvc cap. Screw in clean-out out plug, Camo anyway you see fit and you are ready to go.
I chose threaded bar so that the molasses or any thick deer juice will run through the threads and stay suspended longer as it should follow the path of the threads, Also, wooden dowels would be chewed to pieces quickly.
Tests to follow in the yard using Roasted Corn Freaks which is a thicker attractant.
I'll post my test run finding in a few days. These can be built for about $10 with 1.5" X 2' tank. PVC Cost will go up with tank size but the rest will stay the same.
If you want me to build them for you, I'll charge $15 each unpainted or $20 painted.
n'joy
